When her friend Julia needed help forming a revenge plan against her ex-boyfriend, Ava was happy to lend a hand. She never expected that in the course of making Liam pay, she’d be the one to fall hard. . .for the one person who was absolutely off-limits. Crushing on the guy who humiliated her best friend is definitely against the girl code.

Besides, Ava has goals. Her life is all about graduating with honors and landing the perfect job. And Liam Bailey—sweet-talking, complicated son of a well-known local politician—isn’t part of those plans.

But Liam doesn’t give up easily. And he doesn’t intend to let their friends’ opinions, his parents’ disapproval or Ava’s past get in the way of what he wants–Ava’s heart.

My Review

Disclosure: I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest and fair review. All thoughts and opinions are mine.

Just Desserts is the second book in the Perfect Dish series from author Tawdra Kandle. In the first novel, Best Served Cold, Ava was enlisted by her friend Julia to teach Liam a lesson after a humiliating public breakup, so I wasn’t too sure I liked seeing her wrestling with her feelings for the guy. I’m one of those ladies who believes “once a snake, always a snake,” but I was pleasantly surprised by the changes in Liam in this book.

I’ve read several of Tawdra Kandle’s books and one of the qualities I’ve always loved most was how realistic and relatable the characters and their emotions are. Once again, I was pulled into the story because I sincerely felt for Ava as she struggled with what she felt was wrong, and the yearnings of her young heart. As I read the book, my own feelings went from “REALLY, Ava?!?” to “Awww, all right, you crazy kids.”

If you like to indulge in sweet romantic books that perfectly blend humor, romance, tension and passion, Just Desserts is a must read. You’ll fall in love with Ava and Liam and there delicious story as much as I did. I can’t wait to see what Tawdra Kandle dishes up next.
