Elena is a survivor–and no stranger to the cruelty that lurks in the shadows of society. Caught up in the search for a missing student, she must face the increasing violence head on and find the strength to overcome her own past.
Time is running out. Too many children have recently been reported missing, for this latest disappearance to be a coincidence. Invitations for a special auction have already been sent and buyers are gathering.
Elena’s fierce determination to save a young girl sets off a chain of events that leads to the same man who orchestrated Elena’s own vicious kidnapping.
Will justice triumph in Elena’s crusade to save other innocent victims from the same fate she was forced to endure?
Disclosure: I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest and fair review. All thoughts and opinions are mine.
One of mother’s worst fears is having her child abducted, so Monica Gloria’s book Innocent Labor tugs at the heartstrings right from the start. After enduring her own awful experience, Elena knows she can’t give up her mission to save a girl who disappears into the dark world of human trafficking.
I was gripped by this novel from beginning to end. Elena is one of those characters that drew me in and every turn she took got my heart pumping a little faster. The strength that she found and fear she overcame to make things right had me cheering her on and turning the pages.
Innocent Labor is a great debut album, I’d love to see more of Elena’s story in future books.
About the author:
Monica lives on the West Coast with her family and two dogs. She spends most of her days toiling away at her laptop, striving to purge the words and images swirling around in her brain. There are times when balancing the demands of daily life and her craft can be overwhelming. However, when the scene is down, the dialogue perfect, and everyone is asleep, she couldn’t be more content.
