Disclosure: I am participating in a book review campaign with One2One Network. I received this book from Harper Collins for the purposes of reviewing it. I have not received compensation. My participation in the campaign enters me into a drawing for a gift card. All opinions stated are my own. As a teen, I remember waking up at noon and going to bed at 3 a.m. It was bliss. As the mother of a three year-old, I was still sometimes going to bed at 3 a.m., but had no other choice than to be up and at it at seven. There were days when I was so exhausted it seemed like a Herculean effort just to … [Read more...]

Assured Destruction by Michael F. Stewart Book Review and Giveaway – ends 5/5

assured destruction blog tour

My Review Disclosure: I received a copy of this book for review. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Assured Destruction is centered around Jan, a computer savvy loner with a penchant for cyber mischief. Awkward amongst her real life peers and unhappily working in her family business recycling used computers, her idea of fun is hacking into people's deleted data and using it to recreate a whole cyber family of hard drives she calls Shadownet. Unfortunately, Jan quickly learns that toying with the lives of others on the Internet can beg real-world consequences when she introduces the … [Read more...]

Demon by Laura DeLuca Book Review

My Review Disclosure: I received a copy of this book for review. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Laura DeLuca's books are always page turners, and Demon certainly fits the trend. This modern-day twist on Sweeney Todd is the second book of the Dark Musical Trilogy following Phantom. Right off the bat, these books are hits with me because of their themes, but they certainly stand on their own. Demon continues Rebecca and Justyn's story from Phantom, taking them from the drama-filled halls of high school to their new digs in NYC where they're attending the New York School of … [Read more...]

The Legend of Mickey Tussler by Frank Nappi Book Review

The Legend of Mickey Tussler My Review I'm not the world's biggest sports fiction fan, but I enjoyed the shocking honesty in Frank Nappi's novel, Nobody Has to Know, so I was excited to be given a copy of The Legend of Mickey Tussler for review. I couldn't wait to see how Nappi used his fiercely bold writing style in such a vastly different type of book, and was not disappointed. Living in a time when autism awareness is at an all-time high, I was interested in how it would be portrayed in a 1940s setting, when there was very little understanding of the condition or acceptance of those … [Read more...]

Chivalry and Malevolence by Rae Z Ryans Book Review

chivalry feature

My Review It takes a great deal of thought and planning to create a fantasy novel. Not only does an author have to dream up her cast of unique characters, but also paint a whole world that is magic to the imagination but believable enough to pull a reader in. Rae Z Ryans did a beautiful job of both in the first book of Chivalry and Malevolence. Set in a magical realm filled with elves, dwarves and shape-shifting dragons, the book begins with an oppressed Princess Morgana, disfigured by her evil mother, believing she will live a life without the beauty of love. Even with her damaged … [Read more...]
