Hunger for change: Is this our time?

change feature

Do you ever just crave a change? Not something relatively minor like new haircut -- I'm talking about something huge. A fresh start. I used to be the kind of person who hated change. Status quo meant no surprises. Every day I just walked around above an invisible safety net. Safe, safe, safe. Even if I fell flat on my face, damage would be minimal because there was always that fail-safe. Living like that definitely has its benefits, no doubt about it. And, there's certainly nothing wrong with wanting to feel secure. The trouble is I'm 34 and can't help but wonder what opportunities we … [Read more...]

Bumping back bedtime: Changing the routine for summer

tucked in

I'm currently lying in my bed pretending I don't hear my boys quietly chattering amongst themselves. They think they're being stealthy and flying under the radar, but the truth is, I'm enjoying the last official school night bedtime of the 2012-2013 calendar. My husband and I plan on keeping them to a somewhat regular schedule, but we know that the 8pm lights out is going to be a tad unrealistic given the sun likes to party on past 9. As much as I love that extra hour of quiet time with the hubz at night, I'm willing to make some adjustments in the interest of choosing my … [Read more...]

I’ve never been HIgh #AtoZChallenge

never been high

On Monday, I wrote about how I wouldn't give up on the A to Z Challenge and then on Tuesday I failed to post because of a migraine. Here I am, literally in the 11th hour of Wednesday and I'm trying to catch up. So, letters "H" and "I" will be put together in a post I'm going to call: Hi, I'm Jessi, and I've never been high. This is probably a shock to some, because I'm often random and happen to like to do stupid things and call them experiments. Nevertheless, the fact of the matter is, I do have reasons for having never been nor ever wanting to be high. 1. I'm bizarre enough without the … [Read more...]

Giving up… #AtoZChallenge

a-to-z-letters-g

I've been racking my brains all day trying to think of a "G" post for the A to Z Challenge. Over and over an idea would pop into my head and then I'd quickly become disenchanted with it. Finally, about two minutes ago, I threw my hands up in the air and said, 'I give up!' Then I promptly biffed myself upside the head. Eureka -- my "G" post! One of my worst habits is giving up. It's always been my biggest problem -- starts with no finishes. I don't want to be that person anymore, and it's what I've decided to give up on this year. There are things that I want for myself as well as my … [Read more...]

Focusing on Family – My uneven balancing act #AtoZChallenge

unbalanced

I work on the Internet, so I'm often popping up all over the place from morning until night. It may seem like I'm constantly online, but my tablet and phone make it easy for me to slip in and out while still doing my primary job -- being a mom. Blogging, writing and contracting my social media services give me the flexibility to earn money and still be the mom I want to be. Balancing momming and working has always been a challenge, especially when I was starting out. Getting established took some time, but once people started to recognize me and follow along around the web, things got much … [Read more...]

The D Haiku #AtoZChallenge

I totally dropped the ball and didn't get a "D" post in for the A to Z Challenge. So, since I've only got 33 minutes left to come up with something I'm rocking out a quick and dirty haiku.
