Brilliant Blue Beans #AtoZChallenge

heart beans

When it comes to jelly beans, there is clearly a best.

Now, I realize that there are many types of jellybeans, and depending on the makers, each blue varies from the next. Where its clear superiority comes into play is that the variance isn’t so great that you’re taken completely by surprise when you pop one in your mouth. Generally speaking, blue is a berry flavor. It may be blueberry or raspberry. There may be a hint of lemonade to give it a twist. But at the end of the day, it’s a berry flavor.

The only rare exception is when a manufacturer tries to be cute and makes it a cotton candy flavor, but it still tastes blue. It doesn’t offend the senses like some of the other poser jellybeans.

Now, I’m probably coming across as biased because blue jellybeans are my favorite, but hear me out. Anybody who’s ever been duped by a purple jellybean, knows exactly what I mean. You grab the jellybean, innocently disguised in its grape-like shroud, but when you bite down…BLACK LICORICE!

If that’s not enough to make you lose all trust, then these other smellybeans will do it.

Red – You think it’s cherry or strawberry and then get slapped in the face by cinnamon.

White – Hey, look! Pineapple! NOPE! Mint!

Green – Lime? Nuh-uh. Green apple or mint. (Mint’s just mischievous.)

The list goes on, because none of them can make up their minds. None but dear, sweet, dependable baby blue. See? I told you they were the best.

Makes perfect sense now! Blue is one of the best! Can’t remember the last time I had a blue jelly bean though… hmmm.. will be making a Trader Joe trip soon. Maybe they will have some blue jelly beans to sample. I mean… I have to test this theory again to be certain, right? 🙂

    Take care!

  2. I came expecting to sing the praise of “red” but you are SO right about the horror of getting a cinnamon bean instead of cherry!!

I also took note of the recurrence of mint…I am SO not a mint candy fan…mint gum, sure…but that is it!!

  3. You certainly make a good case for the worthiness of blue jelly beans, and that’s a gorgeous photo, to boot!

I love Jelly Belly jelly beans the best, but I find that I need to decide in advance how many I am going to eat!

Thanks for visiting my blog 🙂
Happy A to Z to ya!
