Goodbye Beautiful Summer

Like most, I have a preferred time of year when the season just takes a hold of my heart and I can’t help but bask in the beauty of the world around me.

Summer just takes my breath away. For anyone who doesn’t know me, this may be a bit surprising considering I’m not a fan of bugs, but as long as they stay in their space I can admire them from a far, and be perfectly content.

So much about summer brings up a swell of emotions inside me. It’s not enough just to see it, but to smell the fresh cut grass or hear the birds singing first thing in the morning makes me feel a comforting sense of peace within myself. For me, summer is a symphony of wonderment, and even the bugs are a glorious sight with all their colors and unique designs.

I remember how free summers felt as a child. I enjoyed times spent riding my bike, walking barefoot in the grass, the whimsical tune of the ice-cream truck calling me, the sweet taste of lemonade on my lips, making warm, breezy memories with my aunt and brother, or escaping with friends at church camp always made summer that much more special.

Sadly, I say goodbye to summer which always brings warm fuzzies to my heart. As I pull my sweaters out of storage I look forward to enjoying its return in 2013.
