Parents, don’t put away those video games just yet — today’s gamer may be

Video games are a big deal in my house. Not just with my husband and me, but also our kids. In fact, there’s nothing that will turn the boys’ heads quicker than the opportunity to earn some gaming time or the possibility of being grounded from the privilege.
My boys enjoy games as much as we do. Not only do they love the competitive aspects of playing video games, but they delight in the triumph of solving a tough puzzle or passing a level that they found particularly challenging.
We allow our sons to play a variety of games on the computer and Xbox because we really value the lessons the boys are learning through their gaming time. Not only are they boosting their hand-eye coordination and getting great exercise with problem solving, but I really like that they’re learning that you don’t always win the first time and you have to keep trying.
Plus, while my kids are playing a variety of interactive games, they’re becoming more comfortable with technology. And, let’s face it, moms, technology is only going to become MORE important in their lives as they grow into the men and women of tomorrow. Just think about all the changes in technology since we were our kids ages. Crazy right?
Technology is huge, and kids who game aren’t intimidated by it as it changes and evolves. I know mine aren’t.
