When was the last time you scheduled some “me time?”
And, I’m not talking about a 20 minute soak in a well-deserved bubble bath. I’m talking about dressing up, with all the bells and whistles–yeah, I’m talking makeup and no ponytail–and getting out to do something you love with someone you love. Ahem…besides your little ones.
Scheduling “me time” outside of the house is as important to your kids as it is to you. You need a chance to replenish and regroup. It’s not a luxury, it’s a necessity. If you’re bogged down with all the responsibilities of life–which we all are–without stepping outside the box and having a little fun, your mood starts to shift and you’re more likely to get snippy or just stop enjoying the things you usually love about being a mom. Taking time for yourself isn’t selfish, because at the end of the day, your children get a mom that has smile on her face and a renewed pep in her step. It’s truly a win-win.
BUT…
Even though we know we need and deserve “me time,” many of us have a hard time actually making it happen. We feel that pang of guilt when think of leaving the kiddos home while we go out for an evening of grownup time, despite the fact that we know deep down those couple of hours are good for our souls.
And, once we get over that initial guilt, we have to worry about…dun, dun, dun….getting a babysitter.
For most of us, the mere thought of calling around to five different babysitters can be enough to derail our plans before they even really blossom. It’s a pain in the rear. Are you feeling me, here?
Thought so.
Well, I’m happy to share that the cavalry has arrived. There’s a new service called SitterScout that helps you schedule your babysitters from your computer or smartphone. Sweet? Yes indeedy.
What is SitterScout?
SitterScout is a mobile and online tool that helps you book your babysitters in a quick, efficient and nearly effortless way.
How does it work?
After signing up for SitterScout’s service, you input the contact information for your existing list of babysitters. It’s important to note that the service does not find you new babysitters; it helps you schedule babysitting services from your own list of sitters that you know and trust.
Once your list is in, when you’re planning a night out, you can go to SitterScout and put in the information about when you’ll need your babysitter. Then you choose which sitters from you list you want to be contacted first via email and text message.
From there, SitterScout will contact your chosen babysitters via SMS, and they can accept or decline the offer by replying with a text message. EASY PEASY.
If for some reason your scheduled sitter can’t make it, SitterScout will have a wait list ready. They will automatically continue down your babysitter list to book another trusted sitter. When a new babysitter is scheduled, they’ll let you know it’s all set up.
And, as if the ease of scheduling isn’t awesome on its own, SitterScout will even send you and your booked babysitter a reminder 48 hours before your night out.
