When I became a SAHM in 2009, I was fulfilling a dream I’d had since childhood. I’d always wanted to have a family and be able to stay home with them, especially in their little years.
After the first year, I realized that while I was totally loving being home with my pint-sized fellas, I was starting to distance myself from other things that I enjoyed. I wasn’t making time for me anymore…at all. That’s when a friend of mine suggested that I start blogging.
At the time, I really didn’t know ANYTHING about blogging. At all.
Still, I’m always up for an adventure, so I looked around at several blogs, and then jumped in myself. Mama’s Got Flair was born in May of 2010 and has been going strong ever since.
What started out as a simple, personal endeavor to reclaim a little sanity, has turned into so much more. I’ve learned through blogging here, as well as other great blogs, that there is a lot of power and camaraderie amongst bloggers and I love being part of it.
Sharing our passions, pursuits, strengths, weaknesses, hopes, dreams, happy moments, struggles, opinions, beliefs and causes are as much our bond as our symbols of individuality. No two blogs or bloggers are the same, which keeps me reading and writing on a regular basis.
Today, I’m blogging for a cause. Race for Congo is an amazing fundraising endeavor dreamed up and taken on by Christian cyclists who are riding for peace in Congo. Take a look:
You can help, too!
These men are going to be riding across the United States, day and night, for seven days, starting on August 1st. Their goal is to raise $43,000 to help end the crisis in Congo and restore peace to a nation in need. To join the blog drive and spread the word, visit Start Dreaming for more information. If you’d like to contribute money for this extraordinary race against time, you can go straight to the Race for Congo website and donate today.
Disclosure: I will be entered in a giveaway for joining this blog drive. All opinions are my own.
