Flair Yourself Friday: Keratosis Pilaris (Chicken Bumps)

kermit loofah

I, along with approximately 40% of the adult population and an estimated 50%-80% of children, suffer from a condition known as Keratosis Pilaris. Keratosis Pilarus is a hereditary condition in which protein in the skin, called keratin, forms hard plugs in your follicles, leaving you with fine bumps that can be found on your face, upper arms, thighs, or in other spots throughout your body. No one really knows why this happens, and, unfortunately, there is no cure for this skin condition. On this edition of “Flair Yourself Friday,” I would like to focus on Keratosis Pilaris, or chicken … [Read more...]

camping

Do you enjoy the great outdoors, but have a hard time parting with the devices that keep you connected? Moms are doing everything nowadays, from camping to hiking, but we still need to stay connected. The only thing worse than realizing you have to update a project at the last minute, is figuring out how to do it from a cell phone with a drained battery...two miles from the nearest outlet. It seems as long as there's been rockin' electronics meant for mobile convenience, we've been getting ourselves into these completely inconvenient situations. It hit me today that the time for excuses is long gone, because, … [Read more...]

Flair Yourself Friday: Reduce Dark Circles Under Your Eyes

circles under eyes

Amongst many reasons motherhood is a sisterhood, is our common lack of sleep. Whether it’s on occasion or a regular basis, not resting enough can cause dark circles under our eyes. Who wants that? Not this girl. For this edition of “Flair Yourself Friday,” I would like to focus on some natural remedies to help ease those pesky under eye circles. There are many more reasons for dark under eye circles, such as allergies, diet deficiencies, prolonged sun exposure and heredity (due to bone structure, hyper-pigmentation, and vascular inflammation). Lack of sleep is also one of the … [Read more...]

Exercise is an extremely important element to getting fit and healthy for the entire family! Today on "Wellness Wednesday," I would like to focus on family friendly exercises! Being a mother of three, I am always trying to squeeze in exercise between children and chores. It isn't always easy, but there are many gyms who offer childcare while you workout. However, if you're can't fit a trip to the gym into your busy schedule, working out with your children not only teaches them healthy values, but can help you torch a few extra calories yourself. Here are a few exercises you can do with … [Read more...]
