Flair Yourself Friday: Foods for Beautiful Skin

foods for skinDid you know that three servings of dark leafy greens such as kale, spinach and collard greens not only help skin to retain its elasticity over time, but also help decrease the risk of skin cancer? Or that when you regularly eating carrots, which contain carotenoid pigments, they give your skin a nice natural tan-like hue?

Today on Flair Yourself Friday, I would like to focus on a few foods that are amazing for your skin! Working on health and beauty from the inside out.

There are many amazing foods, full of wonderful benefits for a woman’s skin, and, let’s face it, ladies, our skin is our biggest asset. Not only can proper skincare help you retain a youthful glow, but there are many awesome foods that can work wonders for your skin. Plus, at home masks can be easy and fun to make. Just please remember to do a small test spot on your skin to see how you will react, and be sure to avoid getting any food in your eyes.

Here are a few of my favorite skin saving foods!

Avocado: Fresh avocado is known to help reduce age spots, heal sun damage and fade scars. The sterolins in avocado are ideal moisturizers for your skin. Oil from an avocado is easily absorbed into deep tissues, and with its emollient properties it is ideal for mature skin. Ripe avocados can simply be mashed and worn as a mask for ten minutes and rinse.

Papaya: Fresh papaya can help reduce or eliminate many skin issues such as age spots, dandruff, enlarged pores, rough skin, unclear skin, hard skin, sunspots and wrinkles. A papaya diet internally helps treat the skin. To externally treat your skin simply puree the fleshy part of the fruit with apple cider vinegar, ten to one ratio, and then wear the mixture as a mask for ten minutes and rinse.

Vanilla: Fresh vanilla, which is high in antioxidants, soothes irritated skin. Squeeze the juice from 1 fresh lemon and remove the seeds. Add vanilla seeds from 7 vanilla beans, 3 tablespoons of brown sugar, and 2 drops of vanilla essential oil. Mix well and apply to face as a scrub, avoiding eyes. Then rinse thoroughly with cool water.
