On this “Flair Yourself Friday’s” post I would like to focus on proper facial washing and skin care.
At any age a good skincare regimen is of the utmost importance. Not only can it help fight acne, but also help fight against the effects aging has on your skin.
There are many wonderful products on the market out there for various skin types, and this is a wonderful time to experiment with various brands in order to find what you like.
One basic must-know is that you should always wash your hands before you wash your face. The bacteria on your hands can make skin problems worse, so always wash them before you begin.
The two most important times to wash your face are once in the morning and once at night. During the day, I recommend using a general face soap formulated for your skin type, be it for dry, oily, or normal.
If you have extremely oily skin, then more frequent facial washing is recommended, at least three times a day, rather than the standard twice daily.
It is also important to use a facial lotion after you wash your face to rehydrate your skin. During the day, please use one with a high SPF to protect your skin from sun damage.
At night, I recommend using a cream scrub with microbeads to help scrub away old, dead skin cells. Then, follow up with a nighttime cream to help fight wrinkles.
At night, try not to sleep on your sides or stomach. The bacteria on your pillow and the pressure of your face on the pillow can not only cause breakouts, but wrinkles as well. If this can’t be avoided, wash your pillow and pillowcase regularly.
A weekly at-home facial once a week, along with a daily cleansing regimen, will help keep your skin glowing and youthful. For a simple at home facial first was your hands, and then was your face with a general face soap. Then apply a mud mask. Once your mask is completely dry rinse, it off and follow up with a cream cleanser with microbeads. Finally apply a facial lotion with a high SPF.
Please remember that when first beginning a facial cleansing regimen, it’s normal to experience a breakout. This is because everything in your pores is being brought to the surface and cleaned out. Don’t be disheartened. It doesn’t last forever, and the long-term payoff of beautiful, healthy skin is SO worth it.
Also another helpful tip is to try finding products that use papaya. Papaya is an amazing fruit that fights many skin problems such as acne, age spots, dandruff, enlarged pores, hard skin, rough skin and sun spots. I’ve even been know to just buy the fruit, purée the fleshy part, and wear it as a mask for about five or ten minutes.
I’m pleased to share that since I’ve been doing this routine for the last month, I’ve had my monthly visitor and DIDN’T get the usual awful breakout that I’ve suffered every month for the last 20+ years. AND…I’ve always had a problem with blackheads on my nose and a couple on my chin…NOT anymore.
Sincerely, this routine works for me. It’s worth the little extra effort, which honestly, I like doing. It makes me feel pampered.
***If you try this out, and you’re not liking the results, try switching the products your using. I can’t promise that this routine will work for everyone, but should make a difference for anyone who has mild skin and acne problems, like I do.
On next “Flair Yourself Friday” we will be focusing on food choices for healthy skin! Don’t miss it!
