I’ve been working on this blog for a while and I haven’t been satisfied. Something’s been missing. With the help of the SITS Girls’ Problogger “31 Days to Build a Better Blog Challenge”, I realized, in a major slap to the forehead moment, the missing piece to the puzzle was direction.
While I enjoy posting random thoughts and stories, I sometimes feel a lack of inspiration, because I’m not sure exactly where I’m headed. Today, I officially unveil my intentions and aspirations for this blog.
Without further ado:
Challenge 1: Write an Elevator Pitch
Definition from Wikipedia: “An elevator pitch is an overview of an idea for a product, service, or project. The name reflects the fact that an elevator pitch can be delivered in the time span of an elevator ride (for example, thirty seconds or 100–150 words).”
Mama’s Got Flair’s new Tagline: Making yourself a priority for the benefit of your family
Elevator Pitch: Do you feel you’ve lost touch with your identity since becoming a wife and mother? Mama’s Got Flair is a haven for mamas who want to rediscover themselves, their dreams and personal goals. There’s no shame in finding a healthy balance between love for your family and yourself. Happy mamas who value themselves, raise respectful, confident children who do the same. If you’re ready to reclaim yourself, celebrate your strength, express your individuality and build your self-confidence, welcome to Mama’s Got Flair.
Giving a specific meaning to my blog revitalizes me. I may revisit my mission from time to time and tweak it, but I feel this is the direction I need to head in. It’s what sings to me.
Please, give me some feedback. Constructive criticism will only help me meet my goals and fuel my ambitions. Thank you all for your support.

I really like your tag-line. It’s a really good mission statement for a blog.
funny how hard I found this task to be, but it’s hard in a good way, making you think about what you want to say, and what you want to write about.
I thought so, too. I struggled quite a bit, but in the end, I think it’s put me on path that will help me reach my personal goals. And actually, it’s given me drive to strive for bigger things. I hope you’re as excited as I am! Thanks for stopping in! ~Jessi
I’m glad that yours was the post before mine on Day 5 of the 31DBBB – I love your new tagline. This Challenge has really given me focus as well! I’m ready to reclaim my self – I’ll be here often!
Thank you so much, and welcome! If there is anything you’re interested in learning about or support you need in your quest to reclaim Sonia, let me know, mama! ~Jessi
Your elevator pitch is fantastic – the way you word it as well as the point it makes. I’m a mom of two (14 and 19) and almost had a breakdown a few years ago because I never did take time for myself. Way too much pressure to be perfect. You’re doing all moms a great service.
WOW! Thank you so much. I really feel that if I do my job right, more moms will start considering themselves regularly, too. That’s my goal, anyway. Thank you again for your support. ~Jessi
I love your writing style – so I’ll follow your blog even if you decide that you’d like to focus on albino worms.
However, I’m glad you put your worm fascination on the back-burner and went with this.
Looking forward to reading more!
Cheers,
Anne
Albino worms? Crap! How did you know I’ve always had a soft spot in my dark, little heart for the plight of the albino worm? When I launch the AWAA (Albino Worm Advocacy Association), I’ll be sure to hit you up for pledges!
I’m glad you like my new direction! Your support means a ton!
Thanks,
Jessi
Hi Jessi
Loving ur pitch and believe me now that you have a focus then everything from now on will make sense.
Although i have been blogging for quite sometime that first task was so rewarding as it seems i too needed focus!
Thanks for stopping by and leaving such a wonderful comment it made by day!
Good luck with rest of the challenge and see you at the other end
You totally speak the truth. I’m thinking about what I write and how it can impact others, more than just for entertainment value. I’ve also started using the tagline in my correspondence and the pitch on forms and profiles. It’s already made a big difference for me, and I’m excited again! Thank you for stopping by! ~Jessi
Hi Jess! I’d say you hit the nail on the head with your first task! The tagline is perfect and fits perfectly with your elevator pitch. I’m still have a hard time with direction. I’ve read a lot on the SITS discussion about day #1 but for some reason your post helped me the most! Thank you for sharing and looking forward to see whats in store for the rest of the challenge.
Thank you so much. It was really hard for me to do, too.
I just checked out your blog. The Weekend Wrap-up is flippin hilarious. I really liked your list, too. I think your style is fab!
If there’s any way that I can help, please let me know. Even if you want to just bounce ideas off me like quarters at a frat party.
~Jessi
Ah-ha! It’s an E-Book! Click the link, Lindsay…
I love it! Your elevator pitch is FABULOUS! I don’t know what a tagline is used for though…? I really need to read about this challenge… LOL You are doing it and so is Cate @ Real Life With Kids. And you are 2 of my idols
Maybe it’s time I jumped on the bandwagon? Is it a book, or is there a website?
Are you a member of the SITS Girls? They’re hosting the challenge in conjunction with Darren from Problogger. The e-book that goes with it is $15 with the SITS discount, but it’s totally worth the investment. The dude totally knows what he’s talking about. The picture of the book on my post is a link to the site.
The tagline is a short pitch and can be used on business cards and other media to grab a reader’s attention.
Go for it, mama! It’s worth it.
